What is cascara and how is it beneficial?

Cascara is the spanish word for “husk”, also known as coffee cherry. Cascara has more antioxidants than blueberries, acai, and more. It has been measured with an ORAC value of (343,900), compared to Turmeric (127,068) or wild blueberries (9,621), according to Superfoodly. 

How does cascara taste? 

Cascara has an incredibly unique flavor. Its flavor can best be described as a combination of the following tasting notes: rosehip, honey, tart, and earthy.

Where do coffee cherries come from?

Coffee cherries come from coffee farms around the world. It is the fruit that houses the coffee bean. 

What are mycotoxins?

Mycotoxins are a type of fungus that grows on coffee cherries while they decompose. They pose a serious threat to humans and when consumed can lead to immune deficiencies and even cancer. Neovida is proud to offer a product that is free from mycotoxins, unlike many coffee cherry teas on the market.

What farms do you source from?

We are currently sourcing from Mexico with plans to export from Panama and India. The farms we source from are organic and biodynamic. 

How do I use Cascara? 

Cascara can be used as an add-in for smoothies, acai or yogurt bowls, with oatmeal, and even baking! Cascara tea can be brewed like any other tea, our personal favorite is using it in a french press! 

What does biodynamic mean and why does it matter? 

Biodynamic is a farming technique created by Rudolf Steiner from Austria. It is similar to organic farming, however it places greater emphasis on protecting the environment. The slogan behind biodynamics is 'to leave the environment better than when you found it.'
